Carol Marie Johnson

Carol Marie Johnson

Carol Marie Johnson (Sweet) was born in Nome to Wallace and Rose Johnson. She was the third child born to Rose and the first born to Wally.

As a child, she loved her grandparents dearly.

At the age of 16, she entered the Miss Arctic Native Brotherhood pageant, where she proudly wore a parka made by her Aukie Frances. Throughout her youth and adulthood, she held multiple jobs, and at each one, she made lifelong friends. While working at Moose-Cellaneous Gifts, Sweet met people from all over the world. She always had a smile for everyone she encountered, and many still remember her loving kindness to this day.

Sweet had a compassionate heart. She fed the homeless and often handed out goodie bags filled with necessities. She had an incredible memory for names and could recognize distant relatives just by looking at them, instantly knowing how they were connected to her family. Though Sweet didnt have children of her own, she loved everyones babies and children. No one went without a Christmas or birthday gift, as she always thought of everyone.

She loved harvesting from the land, camping, fishing, and being outdoors.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and siblings: Lynette, Beverly and Roger; as well as aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, and some cousins.

She is survived by her boyfriend Jimmy; her siblings Rose and her family, Wally Jr. (Melanie) and his family, Albert, JoAnn (Tom) and her family, Marianne (Frank) and her family, and Rhonda (Robert) and her family; along with her aunts, numerous nephews and nieces, and many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Patrick’s Parish on August 30, 2024.

Our beloved sister, Sweet, will be greatly missed by all. Please visit www.alaskanfuneral.com to leave online condolences.
