Jimmie “Eburlik” Milligrock III

May 29, 1991 - September 29, 2016

On May 29, 1991 God granted our family the birth of Jimmie and to proud parents Jimmy Sr. and Darlene (Dolly) Milligrock in Nome, Alaska. At around September 29, 2016 Jimmie drowned in a lagoon channel near Point Hope Alaska. Jimmie was traveling with Raymond Killigvuk of Point Hope whose body was recovered. Kotzebue, Deering, and Savoonga Search and Rescue provided support to Point Hope Search and Rescue. Recovering his body was difficult and unsuccessful due to murky water and fall weather conditions. Private S&R continued in hope to recover Jimmie’s body from the depths of the waters throughout the winter.

With an outstanding personality, Jimmie grew a bond with many who called him as their brother and son. He had a vibrant smile and attitude that would brighten anyone’s day. Jimmie’s passion for hunting, being outdoors, camping, boating, fishing and umiktuk (whale hunt) provided a rich subsistence lifestyle for his family and community. Jimmie was in Clark and Tia Lane’s Whale Hunting crew. Our brother Ben loved his best friend Ebrulik Frankson who passed away in 1990’s at a young age. Shortly after Jimmie III’s birth, Ben told our mom and his dad to name baby brother after his best friend but parents wanted to name him Jimmie III. So they ended up naming him Jimmie Eburlik III.

Jimmie is survived by his father Jimmy Fruit Milligrock Sr., paternal grandparents Arnold and Tillie Teayoumeak of Point Hope; maternal grandparents Walter Cabinboy Sr. and Gertrude Apaya Analoak of Anchorage, siblings Karen Nancy Teesateskie, Eric Trigg; Nancy Theresa, Walter Arthur (Wally) Analoak; Benjamin Charles, Aaron Casper and Tillie Margaret Milligrock. Jimmie will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunties, uncles and friends throughout Tikigaq (Point Hope) and King Island (Nome) Region.

Jimmie was preceded in death with mother Darlene Ann Milligrock aka Dolly, brother Jimmy Milligrock Jr. and best friend Raymond Killigvuk. Favorite song sung by mother Darlene (Dolly) is ‘You are my sunshine’. Darlene was a lineal shareholder of Sitnasuak and Bering Straits Native Corporations. Darlene married Jimmy Sr. in 1991 and was honorably buried in November 1996 next to Point Hope Chief Atanauruq. Jimmie Eburlik is great-great-great grandson to Chief Atanauruq.

November 20, 2016— Memorial service was held in Point Hope (on mother Darlene’s birthday).

December 10, 2016— A plaque was presented to Point Hope Search and Rescue during 2017 Tikigaq Dance Festival.

June 13, 2017— A body part was discovered floating during annual whale festival, which was sent to FBI for DNA testing. FBI confirmed a positive match that it was Jimmie.

August 18, 2018— Funeral Services were held at Tikigaq Episcopal Church with burial at Point Hope cemetery.

The family of Jimmie gives their greatest gratitude to those who provided support in the search, prayers and love. Thank you!

Be the one who makes a difference and wear a LIFE VEST/JACKET when boating.
