Lenora A. “Lena” (Oxereok) Sereadlook

Lenora A. (Oxereok) Sereadlook was born on October 14,1945 to Thomas Sr. and Ida (Ongtowasruk) Oxereok in Wales, Alaska. She peacefully passed on April 14, 2019 with family by side. She is now reunited with her husband, Pete.

Lena enjoyed doing many things; participating in the Wales Church Choir, riding her four-wheeler, taking a sauna, clamming, berry picking, picking greens for the winter, cooking food for the dance festival and volunteering. She was always quick to help others. She was a big part of the community event and holidays. She honored and respected elders. Lena and Pete welcomed people with a great spread of food and she loved visiting with any loved ones from all over. She was a strong person and was still shoveling snow. She loved her family and raised Sara, whom was her heart. When her parents went for medical, Harry, Edna, and Lena lived with her first cousin: Frank Sr. and Evelyn (Aunt) Oxereok. The bond of love for Thomas Oxereok and Ida Oxereok was so strong with Thomas’ nephew, Frank Sr. and Evelyn Oxereok, created one big family.

Lena was a Health-Aide. She delivered her first child Fannie Ongtowasruk and assisted with many other patients throughout her years. She worked as a Store Clerk, Native Village of Wales Janitor/ IGAP Environmental Supervisor/Laborer, Substitute Janitor BSSD, also Gym Coordinator for BSSD, NSEDC Beach Clean Up Laborer, Bering Strait Housing Laborer, Bingo/Pull Tab Worker. She served on the Wales IRA Council as Elder Advisor, AEC Member, City of Wales Council Member; she was a homemaker to help Elders, and was a member of the Wales Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children Larry Sereadlook (Marie Ningealook), and Peggy Sereadlook (Alex Ashenfelter); her grandchildren Vanessa Johnson, Ida and Viola Sereadlook, Stacey, Rebecca Tokeinna, Reuben Jr., Tia, Colleen, Victor, Caroline, Harvey, Preston Olanna, Talia Sonnonberg and Shawna Keyes; her great-grandchildren: Sara Tokeinna-Barr, Richard Tokeinna, Julius Saccheus, Skyer and Isabella Jonhson; sisters  Joanne and Anthony Keyes Jr., and Mary-Ann and Warren Olanna; nephews/nieces: Roy, Gary, Thomas Sockpick and Judie Eningowuk, Wilbert Gene, Beverly and Maude Oxereok, and Esther Fuavai, Peter Poage, Cynthia Williams, Charlotte Miller, and Leah Warburton, Laura and Eric Olson, Andrew T., Norman, and Travis Ningealook, Ed Terry, Glenda Didrickson.

Her beloved extended family and children: Ellen (Dan Richard), Linda Oxereok, Frank Jr., (Veronica) Oxereok, Janet Oxereok (James Teal), Clyde Oxereok, Stanley Oxereok, Anna Oxereok, Amos Oxereok, Melinda Oxereok, Sister in Law: Katie Terry and numerous relatives she kept dear to her heart: Vincent Tocktoo Sr, Florina Snell, Darlene Tocktoo, Vincent Tocktoo Jr., and Karen Tocktoo, and the families of the late Walter and Sophie Nayokpuk.

The family of her late Uncles/Aunts: Charles and Agnes Oxereok, Carl and Edith Oxereok, Esther and Robert Mayokuk, Clarence and Faye Ongtowasruk, Patrick Ongtowasruk, Mabel and Andrew Seetook, Evelyn Frank Oxereok Sr, and Lily Ongtowasruk.

She is preceded in death by her husband Pete, son Pavi Sonnenberg, granddaughter; Louise Inez Tokeinna; parents Thomas Sr., Ida Oxereok; brothers Harry, Wilbert and Thomas Oxereok Jr.; sisters Edna Oxereok, Metro Oxereok; niece Helen Malloy; paternal grandparents John and Mary Oxereok and maternal grandparents: Clyde and Margaret Ongtowasruk.

The family of Lena would like to thank the following: NSHC Dr's & Staff, AMNC Dr's & Staff, Bering Air, Terry Hendrickson, Frank Oxereok Jr., Cynthia Williams, Ann Wemark Rodgers, Karen Rushin, Archie Kiytelluk, Joseph & Martha Senungetuk, Karen Sonray, Richard and Jane Atuk, and the Anchorage Kingikmiut Dancers. Pastor Lisa Hackler, Judie & James Eningowuk and all of our family and friends who provided for her potluck. Auntie Arlene and Nome family who gave us support. Family who did fundraising for the airfares and cost. If we left out anyone else it was not intentional.
