Sean Raymond Akagana Penetac

Sean Raymond Penetac was born on June 4, 1975 to Sylvia and Raymond Paniataaq in Nome, Alaska. He was baptized at Old St. Joe’s January of 1976. His first communion was March 1983. He was confirmed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Sean graduated from Nome-Beltz High School in 1993. He participated in wrestling and the Native Youth Olympics. He went on to college at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage and transferred to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He joined the U.S. Marines in 1997 and completed two tours overseas. After Sean completed his service in the Marines, he joined the Alaska Army Nation Guard 2002, served for seven years and completed one tour overseas.

He worked at Safeway, Norton Sound Health Corporation, Norton Sound Economic Development Company, City of Nome, Nome Joint Utility System, and various other jobs. He was also a member of King Island Native Community, Veterans of Foreign War Post 9569, American Legion Post 19, Shareholder of Sitnasuak Native Corporation, Bering Straits Native Corporation and a proud Volunteer for the City of Nome volunteer ambulance department as an Emergency Medical Technician.

His pride and joy is Brandon Jeffrey Dickson Penetac. He would do anything for his son. He was very friendly, a hard worker, loved to travel and hang out with his son. He would do anything even walk on water for his son. He was always smiling, humble, tried to cook, was always helping others and always stayed busy. His kindness to others will always be remembered well and will forever be missed. Rest well, loved one.

Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Penetac, Tomas Paniataaq, Bernard Paniataaq, Brandon Dickson Penetac, Troy Marshall, Jonathan Merito.

He is survived by his parents Sylvia and Raymond Paniataaq, his son Brandon Dickson Penetac, his sisters Marie Merito, Theresa Kenick, Kathleen Paniataaq, his brothers Michael Penetac, Bernard Paniataaq, Tomas Paniataaq, and Steve Kenoyer; nieces Heather Penetac, Molly Kenick, Lacey Penetac, Michaela Penetac, McKenizie Paniataaq, Mary Lou King, Rose Woodard,  nephews, Jonathan Merito, Parker Kenick, Colton Penetac, Kevin Craig Farley, Isaac Penetac Lasco, Harold Paniataaq, Jack Paniataaq, Saylor Woodard, and various cousins, uncles and aunts.

The family would like to thank the many organizations, family and friends from all the many places that have called, visited and sent messages of love and support. We find peace with you all as we remember such a beautiful soul.
