Samuel Karl Nagaruk Cross

July 17, 1998 – March 20, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Samuel Cross, who left us far too soon at the age of 26. Samuel passed away on March 20, 2025, in Nome.

Born on July 17, 1998, in Anchorage, he grew up in Fairbanks, Kodiak, Anchorage and Nome.

From an early age, Samuel was known for his kind and generous heart, his constant smile, and the warmth he brought to every room he entered. He was an incredible son, brother, and friend. Samuel’s spirit and love for life touched everyone he met.

Samuel attended the Covenant Bible Camp at Unalakleet since he was in the third grade and he continued through last summer. Samuel was already fully engaged in everyday life, but he thrived at Bible Camp. He was deeply passionate about the arts; theater, singing, guitar, short stories, song writing and poetry.

Samuel was an incredibly deep thinker and could carry on hours of conversation about any topic, especially about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Samuel looked forward to participating in subsistence related activities including hunting, fishing, and gathering. He would readily pick berries and deliver them to friends, mentors, and elders.

Samuel is a graduate of Nome-Beltz High School and obtained an associate’s degree from the Alaska Christian College. Samuel’s first language was French, which he enjoyed speaking with anyone who wanted to speak French.

Samuel leaves behind his parents Charlie and Julie Cross, siblings Benjamin and Talia Cross, maternal grandfather Jean Fabignon of France, paternal grandparents Milton and Maggie Cross of Anchorage, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Inga-lil Fabignon of France/Sweden.

Samuel left behind an immense circle of friends who will forever remember him for his laughter, accents, jokes, stories, kindness, and unwavering friendship. Samuel adored his cousins, uncles, aunts, and extended family.

A celebration of Samuel's life will be held on April 24 in Nome at the Covenant Church and on April 28 in Anchorage at the First Covenant Church where friends and family are invited to share memories and honor his life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Unalakleet Covenant Bible Camp.

While Samuel's time with us was far too brief, his legacy of love, kindness, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

We love you, Samuel.
